The number of the day
$6.2M
The money arrived. The prices didn't move.
Combined Polymarket volume across the four opening-slate games has more than doubled overnight — from $3.5M at our recorded open to $6.2M at this snapshot — and not one favorite has drifted more than 0.7 percentage points. Mexico, Korea, Canada, USA: same markets, twice the money. When volume doubles and price holds, that's not indecision. That's conviction.

Game by game
🇲🇽 Mexico vs South Africa — it starts today
Thursday 3:00 PM ET, Estadio Azteca · View live market →
Mexico 68.7% and holding. The market barely blinked as volume nearly doubled from $1.51M to $2.99M — less than 0.2pp of drift. Platform spread tightened from 1.8pp to 1.3pp as books and prediction markets converged further on the favorite. Spread still Mexico −1.25; the Asian quarter-line hasn't budged.
What to watch at kickoff (T−75 min: ~1:45 PM ET): any lineup surprise — Mexico's XI is largely settled but a central defender rotation could nudge the Asian handicap line. Total is 2.5 with the Under at ~54%. A 2–0 or 2–1 home win is still the market's modal script.
🇰🇷 Korea Republic vs Czechia — the most agreed-upon pick'em on the board
Thursday 10:00 PM ET · View live market →
The headline of this snapshot: Korea–Czechia's platform spread tightened from 0.5pp to 0.15pp — the most agreed-upon price on the entire board, across all platforms, right now. 35.4 / 31.4 / 33.3. The market didn't just hold; it got more certain about being uncertain.
What to watch at kickoff (T−75 min: ~8:45 PM ET): Son Heung-min's deployment — wide left vs more central — materially affects the over/under positioning. The total sits at 2.25–2.5. A scoreless first 20 minutes will push the Under hard.
🇨🇦 Canada vs Bosnia & Herzegovina — Edition #1 callback
Friday 3:00 PM ET · View live market →
In Edition #1 we wrote: "thinnest book, most drift potential as liquidity arrives." Liquidity arrived — volume jumped 3.5× from $272K to $963K — and the price held. Canada went from 53.5% blended to 53.1%. An honest verdict: we expected drift; we got confirmation instead. When 3.5× more money flows at roughly the same price, that's not a thin book anymore — it's a book that found its level.
The spread line softened slightly from −0.75 to −0.5, consistent with the marginal narrowing of Canada's win probability. What to watch at kickoff (T−75 min: ~1:45 PM ET Friday): Canada's striker selection — Larin vs David as the central presence is the live-line trigger.
🇺🇸 USA vs Paraguay — the coin flip that survived the volume test
Friday 9:00 PM ET · View live market →
We called USA a coin flip at 49.6% with 0.33pp of unanimity. It is now 49.5% with 0.71pp of spread. Volume climbed +33% from $550K to $732K and didn't move the needle. The co-host still can't crack a majority probability in its own opener, even with a third more money telling the market what it thinks. Draw at 27.9% remains the highest draw probability of any favorite-priced game on the slate.
What to watch at kickoff (T−75 min: ~7:45 PM ET Friday): Tyler Adams' fitness is the key variable. A deep, defensive Paraguay shape could push the total Under hard; the 2.25–2.5 range gives the market room to pivot.
-
Volume doubled, prices held — the liquidity-confirmation story. $3.5M → $6.2M across four markets with a maximum favorite drift of 0.7pp. The market isn't discovering new information; it's doubling down on what it already knew.
-
Canada callback: we expected drift, got confirmation instead. 3.5× volume arrived and the price barely moved. Canada's market is now legitimately priced, not thin. The spread line softening from −0.75 to −0.5 is the only real news.
-
Korea–Czechia platform spread: tightest on the board. 0.5pp → 0.15pp. Polymarket, Kalshi, and nine books have never agreed more about a game they can't call. Every venue landed on the same three-way answer.
-
Totals unchanged — all Unders. Every total line across all four games remains at 2.25–2.5. The market's macro call on opening matchday has not shifted overnight despite the volume influx. If the first game goes over, watch the repricing cascade.
- In-play repricing tonight — Mexico vs South Africa kicks off at 3:00 PM ET; Korea vs Czechia at 10:00 PM ET. Live 1-second capture running on both. Any first-goal swing will be tracked.
- First scoreboard grading tomorrow — Edition #3 will grade our baseline calls against the actual results for tonight's games.
- Lineup confirmation — key personnel decisions land T−75 min for each game. Any star scratch triggers an immediate snapshot note.
Methodology footnote
Six archetypes from the Tater playbook: Unanimous (<1pp platform spread), Tight Consensus (1–2pp), Quiet Edge (2–4pp), Camp Split (PMs and books disagree as groups), Lone Voice / Lone Hawk (one platform/book against the field). Sportsbook probabilities are de-vigged (proportional 3-way normalization). Prediction-market prices are traded order-book prices, treated as vig-free.
